The Sam Houston State Teaching & Learning Conference is now in its 20th year! TLC23 will be held Friday, August 18th, just before the fall semester begins.
All sessions will take place in the Lowman Student Center. Check in at the Orange Ballroom.
We are proud to announce that this year's the Keynote Speaker will be Dr. James M. Lang.
James M. Lang is the author of six books, including Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning (Jossey-Bass, 2016). A former Professor of English and Director of the D'Amour Center for Teaching Excellence at Assumption University, he stepped down from full-time academic work in 2021 to concentrate more fully on his writing and teaching. For the 2021- 2022 academic year, he is serving as the inaugural Presidential Innovation Fellow at Eckerd College. Jim is the recipient of a 2016 Fulbright Specialist Grant (Colombia), and the 2019 Paul Ziegler Presidential Award for Excellence in Scholarship at Assumption University. In addition to writing a monthly column for the Chronicle for Higher Education, he also edits a series of books on teaching and learning in higher education for West Virginia University Press. Jim and his wife formed the Lang Family Foundation, which provides grants to non-profit organizations dedicated to the alleviation of poverty and homelessness, support for the environment and the arts, and funding for libraries and public education.
